Summer Reading 2024

All ages are invited to participate in Clinton Public Library's Summer Reading program! Win prizes, attend awesome events, and read! This year's theme is READ, RENEW, REPEAT. Conservation as a movement focuses on protecting species from extinction, maintaining and restoring habitats, enhancing ecosystem services, and protecting biological diversity.

Prize Opportunities

Clinton Reading Challenge

Every time a participant turns in their reading log on time, either with the physical or digital log, they’ll be entered to win $25 in River City Gold and a library tumbler. Four people will win this prize. Woo hoo!

Our top readers will also be awarded trophies. Prize and trophy winners will be announced on Monday, September 9th.

Bingo Sheet

Mark off every library event you attend. For more event information, please view our programming calendar. Registration for some events is encouraged

Return your completed bingo to the library by Friday, September 6th to be entered to win a prize. You’ll be entered once into our raffle for each bingo you earn. Our raffle winner will get $25 in River City Gold and a goody bag. The winner will be announced on Monday, September 9th.

Individuals can pick up a bingo sheet from the library’s main desk starting on Monday, May 20th. You can also print this bingo off at home; CLICK HERE to download it.

You can log either with a physical paper log or using the Beanstack App. Pre-Registration in Beanstack is available. Those who participate through Beanstack will get virtual tickets for their raffles, but physical and virtual tickets will be put into the same raffles. You cannot get physical and virtual tickets. Choose one venue to track. 

Raffle Tickets can be submitted until Friday, August 9th. Raffle prizes will be drawn the following week, and winners will be contacted. Winners have until Friday, September 6th to pick up their prizes before another name is drawn. 


Early Lit | Ages 0-6 

Read ten hours over ten weeks and your name will be put into a raffle of your choosing. You get tickets at Registration, 5 Hours, 10 Hours. There is an activity BINGO for extra raffle tickets. You can also print this bingo off at home; CLICK HERE to download it.

Kids | Ages 7-12 

Read ten hours over ten weeks and your name will be put into a raffle of your choosing. You get tickets at Registration, 5 Hours, 10 Hours. An extra ticket will be available at 15 Hours and 20 Hours read. 

Teen | Ages 13-17 

Read ten hours over ten weeks and your name will be put into a raffle of your choosing. You get tickets at Registration, 5 Hours, 10 Hours. An extra ticket will be available at 15 hours and 20 Hours read.

Join us for an afternoon of play and learning! The Creative Explorers (formerly Afternoon Adventures) program offers a space for children to create, explore, and discover. Through fun and interactive programs, we aim to provide patrons of all abilities and stages of learning with the opportunity to learn about the world around them in a hands-on way.

Caregivers are encouraged to stay in the building and participate with their children. Children under the age of 8 are not to be left alone in the building without a caretaker at least 14 years of age.

Reading Party

 Thursday, July 25 | 5:30PM - 7:00PM | Main Branch, 2nd Floor

Attend this program to enjoy quiet reading time with other readers. This is the perfect party for people of all ages who want to designate time to read. Light drinks and snacks will be provided. This is a family friendly event as part of our summer reading program.

Can't make it right at 5:30pm? That's ok! Come whenever you can to read with us, even if it's for ten minutes.

The Book Was Better Club | Mr. Popper's Penguins

Join us for a monthly book club designed to get children and their caregivers reading, talking, thinking, and sharing in the magic of reading together. Each month we will read a book that has been turned into a movie.

After reading the book, we will get together for a discussion, movie viewing, and vote on which was better—the book or the movie. During the movie, we will enjoy snacks and treats related to the book.

Participants can pick up 1 copy of the book per family at the Children’s desk to read prior to the discussion. Only 10 books available.

with Dubuque River Museum & Aquarium

Come and see the Dubuque River Museum & Aquarium’s traveling touch tank with live animals. Learn about common misconceptions about sharks and sting rays and the adaptations these critters have to survive, their importance to the ecosystem and discover how you can help with conservation efforts. Participants will have the opportunity to get their hands wet and touch one of these amazing animals.
